The cost of shipping a car is determined by various factors. Distance and location play a big part: longer distances and remote locations typically increase the cost. The size and weight of the vehicle also matter; larger, heavier vehicles generally cost more to ship. You also need to consider the type of transport: open transport is more cost-effective, while enclosed transport, which provides more protection, is pricier. The condition of the vehicle impacts cost as well: inoperable vehicles may require special handling. Time of year can affect pricing due to supply and demand, with busier periods being more expensive. Lastly, if you require expedited shipping, it will likely cost more.
The time it takes to ship a car varies based on several factors:
While the speed of delivery is important, the safe transportation of your vehicle is the highest priority.
Yes, all vehicles are covered under the carrier's cargo insurance policy during transit. This insures against damage or theft. We always verify the details and limits of the coverage before shipping.
Door-to-door shipping means the vehicle is picked up and dropped off as close as possible to the addresses you provide. This offers convenience but may be impacted by local regulations or access issues.
Yes, but generally, packing personal items in your car is discouraged for safety and regulatory reasons. Some companies may allow up to 100 lbs. in the trunk, but this varies between carriers.
Open transport is more common and cost-effective, but your car is exposed to the elements. Enclosed transport protects your vehicle from weather and road debris, making it a preferred choice for high-value or classic cars.
Yes, someone 18 or older needs to be present to sign the Bill of Lading, a document detailing your car's condition at pickup and delivery. You can authorize someone else to be there if you cannot make it.
Most transport companies provide updates or potentially a tracking system to monitor your vehicle's journey. This helps you to stay informed and plan for its arrival.
If your location isn't accessible due to narrow streets or low-hanging trees, you'll need to agree on a nearby location, like a large truck accessible parking lot for pick-up/drop-off.
We primarily deal within the 48 contingent states but can recommend an international shipper upon request.
During delivery, you MUST do a thorough inspection of your vehicle and document any damage on the delivery portion of the BOL (Bill of Lading). This will allow you to take the necessary steps to process a claim with the transporters insurance company. This step is important and a good inspection is necessary to ensure a claim will not be denied.
Ideally, booking 2-4 weeks in advance helps ensure carrier availability and gives ample time for logistics. However, we can accommodate shorter notice if required.
Typically all orders are paid on delivery with an arrangement fee made to the coordinator upon pickup confirmation. Payment methods include cash, certified money order, cashier's check, business checks, zelle, cashapp, venmo, apple pay, ACH deposit, and credit cards. These details must be addressed prior to arrangement of the shipment.
Most of the time a booking fee is required to search for a carrier and the final sum is to be paid on delivery to the carrier themselves. Other times you may be required to pay the full sum upfront when a carrier has been assigned transport to your vehicle.
Cancellation policies differ amongst carriers and other transporters. Some may offer a full refund while others may charge a cancellation fee known as a "Dry Run" where a fee will be collected for the unsuccessful attempted transport. This usually covers truckers diesel and time expenses.
A broker connects you with carriers, who own the trucks and handle the actual transport. Brokers have access to a network of carriers, providing more options and potentially better rates.
The pickup date is agreed upon based on your availability and the carrier's schedule. Some flexibility may be required as unexpected factors can influence timing.
The Bill of Lading (BoL) is a legally binding document issued by the carrier. It details your vehicle's condition at pickup and delivery and serves as a receipt of the transaction.
Remove personal items, check tire pressure, leave about 1/4 tank of gas, and note any pre-existing damage. Disable alarms and remove any exterior accessories like bike racks or spoilers.
Your car is only driven to load and unload it from the carrier. The mileage should not significantly change during transport unless otherwise agreed to with the carrier (i.e. You allow the carrier to drive the vehicle from a shopping plaza 1 mile to your location in an unaccessible location).
Yes, while this does increase shipping rates when transporting on short notice.
Many carriers can ship inoperable vehicles, but additional fees may apply due to the extra equipment or labor required to load and unload the vehicle.
A reputable company like ourselves will clearly state all costs upfront. Be wary of unusually low quotes, as they may contain hidden fees. Always ask for a complete breakdown of costs when shopping with others.
This service involves dropping off your vehicle at a specific location (terminal), where it is picked up by the carrier. It's usually cheaper but less convenient than door-to-door shipping.
Typically, you only need to provide your vehicle's title and registration, along with proof of insurance. Specific requirements can vary, so always check with your transport company.
